Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is an educational service company that provides an array of support services in the post-secondary education sector. Formerly part of Grand Canyon University (GCU), GCE still supports and works closely with GCU. GCE designs and develops educational programs for GCU and other traditional campus institutions, as well as online partner institutions at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
The IT Business Analyst II position provides strategic business analysis services to business partners. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of customers business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates.
In this role, you will serve as an SME in relation to application software assignments and how the software functionality can address business challenges. You will review assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial and technological risks and identity opportunities to improve efficiency. In addition, you will include a full range of activities from leading small to mid-size projects to assisting others on larger more complex projects related to operational business functions.
We will look to you to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers.
Responsibilities:
Elicit requirements using a variety of tools from stakeholders to define a solution
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, distinguish user requests from underlying needs
Provide project level analysis to external and internal customers by producing the following business requirements documents, functional requirement documents, future state proposals, use cases, GUI, Screen and interface designs and UAT plan
Identify, create and facilitate process design changes by conducting business and systems process analysis and design at a complex level; focusing on quality improvement and data management; ensuring data is reliable and valid; developing process improvements or re-engineering and recommending elimination; integrating new systems and process with existing ones; and partnering with internal and external customers to ensure systems provided meet the long term business strategies
Must be able to handle complex multiple projects and deliver according to requirements
Regularly assess business processes and system inefficiencies and propose solutions
Serve as the conduit between the customers and the software development team through which requirements flow
Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates
Collaborate with development to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
Serve as the key liaison between business units, technology teams and support teams
Support management in achieving business goals, and applying departmental guidelines and processes
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in business or information technology preferred
Minimum of five years of professional experience defining business requirements for software applications and has experience in working with developers to produce solution
Demonstrated fluency in business processes and process differentiation.
Strong ability to analyze and synthesize business requirements, including recognizing patterns and conceptualizing processes
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently and in teams as well as ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain business relationships
Customer-focused and able to act with tact, diplomacy and professionalism
Strong ability to analyze processes and systems and propose solutions that represent forward thinking rather than just an immediate solution
Ability to translate information between technical and business teams, ensuring expectations are clear on both sides
Proficient with the MS Office Suite of products
Aptitude for solving problems and managing process flow
Demonstrated use of Agile SDLC methodology and the ability to articulate that understanding to stakeholders
Professional demeanor with the ability to demonstrate dedication and support for ITs business objectives in support of GCU
Strong understanding of the development process including specification, documentation, quality assurance, and production support
